| Rules of Syllabification: 1. Each syllable can contain one vowel or one diphthong. 2. A Single consonant with be grouped with the following vowel. If the single consonant ends the word, it will be grouped with the preceding vowel. 3. Consecutive vowels which do not make a diphthong must be seperated. 4. A consonant cluster which can not be pronounced together must be divided. The first consonant will be grouped with the preceding vowel. 5. A consonant cluster which can be pronounced together will be grouped with the folowing vowel. 6. Double consonants must be divided. 7. Compound words are divided where they are joined. |
